MR KAT'S TAIL
…an ordinary day and a red and white line!
In this visual and musical adaptation of a very colourful book, De start van meneer Kat by Tjalling Houkema, three performers act in tandem and explore their complementary realms. Magic materialises and the narrative takes shape from video, to music, installations to manipulation. Several bird characters make their way along a strange red and white line…At the end of this line a character reveals himself with an enigmatic smile: Mr Kat!
The drama is based on images and unlikely encounters, coincidences and the movement of the characters, in one direction. This simple radicality secures complexity through varying acting paces, intersecting ambiances, metaphors for living together and the paradoxes of day-to-day life. The direct identification of certain characters makes it entertaining. It is mainly, but not solely, aimed at young audiences.
